Science Technician
Required 1st October
36.25 hours per week, 40 weeks (Term time only + 2 weeks
Full-time equivalent salary Spinal points 9 - 14 : Starting salary £25,119 FTE. Actual starting salary £21,425.
This is an exciting opportunity for a capable, self-motivated individual to provide technical and administrative support to the Science department in order to support the teaching of a wide range of science subjects.
The successful applicant will prepare and set up equipment and materials ready for use by teaching staff in the appropriate laboratory, and will undertake cleaning and maintenance of equipment. The role will also entail the preparation and set up of teaching aids and demonstration models for use in the teaching areas, including all aspects of any new Scheme of Work, working safely with chemicals in accordance with Health and Safety, COSHH and other relevant legislation.
A good understanding of science equipment and procedures is desirable and you will be well organised, diligent and able to read and follow rules and procedures. You will be competent in literacy and numeracy, and be able to adapt according to the needs of the students and situations you will be working with.
Debenham High School is a high achieving Church of England standalone secondary academy, with approximately 680 students aged 11-16, and serves a catchment area north-west of Ipswich in rural Suffolk.
