Science Technician

Required immediately

Part-time 17 hours per week, 38 weeks (Monday and Friday all day, with an additional 2 hours to be worked on a 3rd day, term time only). Initially fixed term until 31 August 2024.

Full-time equivalent salary Spinal points 4 - 6 : £23,114-£23,893 FTE. Actual starting salary £8,783.

Note: For candidates seeking a 5 day working week, there is an opportunity to combine this role with a part-time Teaching Assistant role, also advertised.

This is an exciting opportunity for a capable, self-motivated individual to provide technical and administrative support to the Science department in order to support the teaching of a wide range of science subjects.

The successful applicant will learn to prepare and set up equipment and materials ready for use by teaching staff in the appropriate laboratory, and will undertake basic cleaning and maintenance of equipment. Full training will be given over time to enable the candidate to prepare and set up teaching aids and demonstration models for use in the teaching areas, including all aspects of any new Scheme of Work, and will learn the Health and Safety requirements of the role to be able to work safely with chemicals in accordance with Health and Safety, COSHH and other relevant legislation.

You will be well organised, diligent and able to read and follow rules and procedures. You will be competent in literacy and numeracy, and be able to adapt according to the needs of the students and situations you will be working with.

A good understanding of science equipment and procedures is desirable but not essential as full training will be given.

Teaching Assistant

Required immediately

Part-time between 17 hours per week, 38 weeks (Tuesday-Thursday, term time only). Initially fixed term until 31 August 2024, with the potential for a permanent appointment subject to future student support requirements.

Full-time equivalent salary Spinal points 3 - 4 : £22,737-£23,114 FTE. Actual starting salary £8,640.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a strong and dedicated team who make a significant contribution to the success of young people in our school. Our team of teaching assistants, led by our Special Educational Needs Coordinator, work alongside teachers to support students within and outside the classroom.

Teaching Assistants provide support to the teacher and through this to pupils and to the teaching of the curriculum.  Teaching Assistants work under the direction of the Teacher, whether with the whole class, a small group, or an individual pupil, to ensure that all pupils achieve their full potential.

You will be a well organised good communicator with good teamwork skills. You will be competent in literacy and numeracy, and be able to adapt according to the needs of the students and situations you will be working with.

Cleaners

We are looking for hard-working cleaners to join our team. We have a variety of shifts available from 1.5-3 hours per day, to be worked between 3:45-7pm each evening.

Pay will be between £7.13 - £10.60 per hour, plus holiday pay.
