Message from the Headteacher

OPEN EVENING 2020 - Due to the current Covid-19 restraints, we are unfortunately unable to hold our usual Open Evening or offer tours of the school for parents and prospective pupils this year in the normal way.

However please CLICK HERE to view our virtual open evening in the "new normal".

Monday 12th October 2020

This week saw the start of the Virtual KS3 homework club and it was very pleasing to see a number of students log into this to get some guidance with their homework, please do encourage your son or daughter to use this facility if there is anything they need help with or information about homework from their subjects.

Hopefully we are in for a drier week this week but the weather is predicted to turn cold so please encourage the students to wear layers under their uniform to keep warm.

We are trying to find ways in which we can start some of our extra-curricular sporting activities after half term, Mr Mitchell and his team are looking at ways to get these clubs, which are such an integral part of school life, up and running again so do watch this space.

This week we have uploaded the school Open Evening videos for prospective new parents to look at, it is such a shame not to be able to welcome parents and prospective students into the school but we are hopeful this is the next best thing.

On a “virtual note” we are exploring using video calling for the Year 11 parents evening after half term, Miss McBurney will be in touch to explain how this will work but we are very keen to keep that dialogue open between staff and parents to best support the students in school. If there are any concerns or questions please do get in touch with us so that we can help.

I have included a link below to help parents follow the latest guidance on Covid-19, please be aware that there is no need to keep pupils at home if they are suffering from a cold and feel well enough to attend school, if however this accompanies any of the symptoms as described then please follow the guidance to keep them and any other household members self-isolating until a negative test has been returned.

Should there be a positive case in school we will follow official guidance and inform parents/carers of all students at school giving advice as to next steps.

I hope you are all well and managing in these strange times.

Best Wishes

Simon Martin
